Description
The Nooelec NESDR SMArt v5 Bundle is engineered as a complete entry point into software-defined radio, providing a robust hardware platform for RF exploration from longwave through UHF. Its core is the NESDR SMArt dongle, leveraging the ubiquitous RTL2832U USB interface chip paired with the sensitive R820T2 tuner, delivering reliable performance for applications like ADS-B, AIS, or analog broadcast reception. The inclusion of the Ham It Up v1.3 upconverter fundamentally improves HF band capability by shifting signals to a higher frequency where the R820T2 operates optimally, avoiding the noise and aliasing issues inherent in direct sampling methods.
Designed for both field portability and bench use, the kit’s accessories streamline antenna integration. The Balun One Nine provides proper impedance matching for longwire or dipole setups, while the low-loss RG-58 cable on a magnetic base offers a quick-deploy mobile antenna solution. The three included antennas and SMA adapters cover a broad range of frequencies, allowing users to immediately monitor everything from amateur radio to public safety bands without additional purchases. The entire system is powered via a standard 5V USB connection, making it compatible with laptops, Raspberry Pi, or portable battery banks for remote sensing operations.
