Winsen MQ131 High-Concentration Ozone Gas Sensor - Semiconductor Sensor
The Winsen MQ131 is a high-concentration semiconductor ozone (O3) gas sensor designed for monitoring ground-level ozone. It provides a simple analog voltage output proportional to gas concentration, making it compatible with common microcontroller ADCs (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32) for air quality and industrial hygiene applications.
Features
- High-concentration ozone (O3) detection from 10 to 1000 ppm
- Semiconductor metallic oxide sensing element for reliable performance
- Analog output voltage (Vs ≥1.0V in 200ppm O3) for easy microcontroller interfacing
- Robust bakelite body with metal cap encapsulation
- Fast response time, high sensitivity, and long operational lifespan

The MQ131 ozone gas sensor utilizes a semiconductor metallic oxide as its sensitive material, which exhibits high conductivity in clean air. In the presence of ozone, the sensor’s conductivity decreases proportionally with the rising gas concentration. This change in conductivity can be converted into a corresponding output signal via a simple external circuit, enabling precise monitoring of ozone levels.
Designed for durability, the sensor features a standard bakelite and metal cap encapsulation, providing stability in various environmental conditions. It operates optimally at 20°C ±2°C and 55% ±5% RH as per its calibration specifications. While highly sensitive to ozone, it also responds to other strong oxidizing gases like chlorine (Cl2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and exhibits an opposite response to organic interference gases, ensuring specific application suitability.
