Description
The ST-LINK/V2 serves as a highly versatile in-circuit debugger and programmer, purpose-built for the extensive range of STM8 and STM32 microcontrollers. It facilitates direct communication with the target microcontroller on an application board through its dedicated SWIM (Single Wire Interface Module) and JTAG/SWD (Joint Test Action Group/Serial Wire Debug) interfaces. This capability is crucial for both real-time debugging of embedded applications and efficient flashing of firmware onto the target device.
For STM8 applications, the ST-LINK/V2 connects via a USB full-speed interface and is fully compatible with ST’s own ST Visual Develop (STVD) for debugging and ST Visual Program (STVP) software for programming. When working with STM32 microcontrollers, the debugger integrates seamlessly with industry-standard integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Atollic TrueSTUDIO, IAR Embedded Workbench, Keil MDK-ARM, and TASKING VX-toolset. A specialized variant, the ST-LINK/V2-ISOL, provides identical functionality with the added benefit of digital isolation between the host PC and the target board, offering enhanced protection against high-voltage differentials up to 1000 Vrms. Its flexible connection options and wide application voltage support make it an indispensable tool for embedded system design and development.
