Description
The Waveshare Long-wave IR Thermal Imaging Camera HAT (B) is a compact thermal sensor module designed for direct integration with Raspberry Pi single-board computers. It utilizes a hybrid sensing architecture combining a microbolometer and thermopile to capture long-wave infrared radiation (8-14μm wavelength) with a resolution of 80×62 pixels. This shutterless design eliminates the need for periodic calibration pauses, enabling continuous thermal video capture at frame rates up to 25 FPS for real-time monitoring applications.
Operating from a 5V supply with low current draw, the module is engineered for reliable performance across an extended temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. It connects seamlessly via the Raspberry Pi’s standard 40-pin GPIO header, requiring no external drivers or complex wiring. The integrated processing provides calibrated pixel data, delivering temperature measurement accuracy within ±1.5°C in ambient conditions, making it a practical tool for developers and system integrators.
