Pro-Range PR17C-RS-100K Pressure Gauge 0-100 kPa RS485 - G1/4 Thread w/ 1m Cable

The RS485 interface on the PR17C-RS-100K supports the Modbus RTU protocol. This standard industrial protocol allows for easy integration with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, and data acquisition modules that support Modbus communication for reading pressure values and configuring device parameters.

While the unit includes a 1-meter cable, the RS485 standard supports much longer distances. Using standard 24 AWG twisted-pair cable, reliable communication can typically be achieved up to 1200 meters (approximately 4000 feet) at a baud rate of 9600. Signal integrity over extreme distances depends on cable quality, baud rate, and network termination.

The PR17C-RS-100K is designed for use with non-aggressive media such as water, oil, air, and similar inert liquids and gases. For applications involving corrosive chemicals, solvents, or aggressive gases, a sensor with a compatible wetted material (e.g., 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy) and appropriate sealing is required. Power is supplied via the included cable. Typically, two wires within the cable are designated for the DC power input (often labeled V+ and V-). Connect these to a stable 12-24V DC power source within the specified range. The remaining wires are for the RS485 communication lines (A/B or D+/D-). Always ensure correct polarity and use a power supply with sufficient current capacity and low ripple.
