Description
The M5Stack Timer Camera is a purpose-built, low-power vision module centered on the Espressif ESP32, augmented with 8MB of external PSRAM. This memory is critical for handling the frame buffer of the onboard OV3660 3-megapixel CMOS sensor, which outputs RAW, RGB, or YCbCr data. The module is architecturally designed for battery-operated scenarios, leveraging a dedicated BM8563 real-time clock (RTC) to manage deep sleep schedules and timed wake-ups, minimizing average current draw.
Connectivity is handled via the ESP32’s integrated 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, enabling direct upload of captured images or video streams to cloud platforms or local servers. The board’s 3.3V power domain and compact form factor make it ideal for embedding into enclosures. It provides a versatile development path, supporting the Espressif IoT Development Framework (ESP-IDF) for granular control, the Arduino ecosystem for simplicity, and M5Stack’s UIFlow for visual, block-based programming, catering to users of all skill levels.
