Description

The M5Stack ATOMIC Speaker Base is a dedicated audio expansion board engineered to add high-quality sound output to the compact ATOM Lite and ATOM S3 Lite microcontroller units. It centers around the NS4168 mono Class-D power amplifier IC, which efficiently drives speakers or headphones from a 3.3V supply. The module integrates a digital I2S audio interface, allowing for direct, high-fidelity audio streaming from the host’s I2S peripheral, and includes automatic sample rate detection to maintain signal integrity.

Designed for embedded audio projects, the base provides flexible storage via a built-in MicroSD card slot, enabling standalone audio file playback. Its physical design includes a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a connector for an external 8-ohm speaker (included), making it suitable for applications ranging from simple notification tones to streaming audio players. Note that due to GPIO conflicts, this base is compatible only with the ATOM Lite and ATOM S3 Lite models, not the ATOM Matrix.
