Generic GY-87/HW-290 10DOF Sensor Module MPU6050 HMC5883L BMP180 - I2C Interface
The GY-87/HW-290 is a 10DOF (Degrees of Freedom) sensor module integrating an MPU6050 6-axis IMU, HMC5883L magnetometer, and BMP180 barometer via a unified I2C bus. It features onboard 3.3V regulation and logic level conversion for seamless 3-5V compatibility with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontroller platforms.
Features
- Integrated 10DOF sensing: 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer (MPU6050), 3-axis magnetometer (HMC5883L), and barometric pressure/temperature (BMP180).
- Unified I2C communication interface with configurable MPU6050 address via solder Jumper and onboard 5V-to-3.3V logic level converter.
- Onboard ultra-low-noise LDO voltage regulator and filters for stable operation in electrically noisy environments (e.g., drones, robotics).
- User-programmable full-scale ranges: Gyro (±250/500/1000/2000°/sec), Accelerometer (±2/4/8/16g).
- Compact PCB footprint (22mm x 17mm) with pre-soldered sensor chips and included male headers for easy integration.

This module consolidates three industry-standard MEMS sensors into a single, compact board. The MPU6050 provides 6-axis motion tracking (3-axis gyroscope and 3-axis accelerometer) with Digital Motion Processor (DMP) support for sensor fusion. The Honeywell HMC5883L triple-axis magnetometer delivers 1-2° compass heading accuracy, while the Bosch BMP180 barometric pressure sensor enables altitude tracking and environmental monitoring.
The board is engineered for system robustness, featuring an integrated linear voltage regulator and filtering circuits to mitigate noise from motors or high-current loads common in robotic and RC applications. Its built-in logic level converter allows direct connection to both 3.3V and 5V microcontroller logic families without external circuitry.
