DFRobot Offline AI Binocular 3D Vision Recognition Sensor (Face / Palm Vein / QR Code) - UART/USB Interface
The DFRobot Offline AI Binocular 3D Vision Recognition Sensor is a self-contained biometric module integrating dual 2MP RGB+IR cameras and a dedicated 0.5 TOPS NPU for onboard face, palm vein, and QR code recognition. It operates via 5-12V DC and communicates via UART or USB, enabling easy integration with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and industrial PLCs without host CPU load.
Features
- Onboard 0.5 TOPS NPU AI processor for fully offline face, palm vein, and QR code recognition.
- Dual 2MP CMOS cameras (RGB + IR) enable 3D liveness detection and anti-spoofing.
- Local storage for up to 1,000 face templates and 1,000 palm vein templates.
- Communicates via UART (115200 bps) or USB (UVC video) for flexible system integration.
- Wide 5-12V DC input range with an average operational current of 330mA.

This sensor module combines advanced computer vision hardware with a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) to perform complex biometric authentication tasks entirely offline. The dual-camera system captures both RGB and infrared images, allowing for robust 3D liveness detection that prevents spoofing with photographs or masks. All AI processing, template matching, and decision-making occur locally on the module’s Arm CPU and NPU, ensuring data privacy and eliminating network latency.
Designed for harsh environments, it operates across a -25°C to +60°C temperature range and functions in complete darkness thanks to its active IR illumination. The module boots in under 2.5 seconds and provides high-accuracy verification with a Face False Acceptance Rate (FAR) as low as 0.001%. Its compact form factor and simple UART command protocol make it suitable for embedded integration into access control systems, smart kiosks, and automated retail solutions.
