Description
The CIKU PIC development board is designed for enthusiasts and developers who prefer the Microchip Technology PIC microcontroller architecture, offering a familiar Arduino form factor. Named for its sweet and brown tropical fruit namesake, the CIKU board aims to provide a seamless transition for those looking to utilize existing Arduino shields with a PIC core.
Equipped with a PIC18F4550 microcontroller pre-programmed with Microchip Technology’s USB HID Bootloader, the CIKU significantly simplifies the programming process. Users can load programs using a standard USB Mini-B cable, eliminating the need for an external programmer and reducing initial setup costs. For advanced users, the board retains PICkit2/3 compatible 6-way ICSP pads for direct programming and in-circuit debugging. While not 100% software-compatible with the Arduino IDE, it strives to minimize effort by supporting similar API calls like pinMode() and analogRead(). As an open-source platform, community contributions to library development and feedback are actively welcomed.
