Description
The Adafruit Feather M4 CAN Express elevates the popular Feather M4 series by incorporating the ATSAME51J19 chipset, which natively supports CAN bus communication. This board is driven by a 120MHz Cortex-M4F microcontroller, providing substantial processing power and a Floating Point Unit (FPU) for complex calculations. With 512KB of Flash and 192KB of RAM, it’s engineered for demanding real-time control applications and efficient data handling.
Designed specifically for CAN interfacing projects, the Feather M4 CAN Express integrates a CAN transceiver chip and a 5V converter, ensuring reliable CAN communication even when powered by batteries. The CAN signal lines and ground reference are conveniently accessible via a 3-pin 3.5mm terminal strip, and the CAN components can be put into low-power sleep mode. Its Feather form factor ensures compatibility with a wide range of FeatherWings, accelerating project development.
This board offers flexible development options, supporting both the Arduino IDE for C/C++ programming and CircuitPython for Python-based projects. When plugged in, it appears as a small USB drive, allowing developers to easily edit main.py without requiring complex installations or compilers. A 2MB SPI flash memory chip serves as additional storage for scripts, libraries, or data logging, further enhancing its versatility as a data logger or embedded system platform.
