Description

The CG-ZC thermocouple sensor operates on the Seebeck effect, where the junction of two dissimilar metals (Chromel and Alumel) generates a voltage proportional to temperature difference. This voltage signal is transmitted via the shielded cable to compatible temperature controllers or transmitters for precise measurement and process control.

Constructed with a solid stainless steel sheath, the probe offers excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion in high-temperature industrial environments. The shielded, braided cable provides essential protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring signal integrity in electrically noisy settings typical of manufacturing plants and process facilities.

Key Features

  • K-Type thermocouple element for reliable and standardized temperature-voltage output.
  • Durable 304 or 316 stainless steel probe sheath for long-term use in harsh conditions.
  • Shielded, braided cable construction reduces signal noise and improves measurement accuracy.
  • Designed for direct compatibility with standard thermocouple input sockets on controllers and PLCs.
  • Compact 4x30mm probe dimensions allow for easy installation in confined spaces.
  • Optimized performance-to-cost ratio for industrial batch processes and equipment monitoring.

Applications

  • Temperature monitoring and control in industrial electric ovens and baking lines.
  • Process temperature feedback for furnace and kiln operation in ceramic and metalworking.
  • Integrating with PLC systems for HVAC duct temperature sensing in large facilities.
  • Laboratory equipment temperature profiling and data logging.
  • Food processing and packaging machinery thermal regulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of connector does this CG-ZC thermocouple sensor use?

This sensor typically features bare, tinned wire leads at the end of the 1m shielded cable. These leads are designed to be connected directly to screw terminals on a temperature controller, PLC analog input module, or a thermocouple transmitter. Always ensure proper polarity (positive and negative leads) when wiring to a compatible K-type input.

Can I extend the 1-meter cable on this thermocouple?

Extending thermocouple cables requires careful consideration. Using standard copper wire will introduce measurement errors. For extensions, you must use thermocouple extension wire of the matching type (K-type) and ensure all connections are thermally stable and secure to avoid creating unwanted parasitic junctions that affect accuracy.

What is the difference between a thermocouple and an RTD sensor?

Thermocouples, like this K-type model, generate a small voltage based on temperature difference (Seebeck effect) and are suitable for wider temperature ranges (-200°C to 1350°C for K-type). RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) change electrical resistance predictably with temperature and generally offer higher accuracy and stability over a narrower range. The choice depends on required temperature span, accuracy, and system compatibility.

Is this sensor suitable for measuring liquid temperatures?

Yes, the stainless steel probe is corrosion-resistant and can be immersed in non-aggressive liquids within its 0-600°C range, such as in tanks or baths. Ensure the installation method (threaded fitting, compression gland) provides a proper seal. The probe is not pressurized, so it is not designed for high-pressure vessel applications.
