The Waveshare Environment module consolidates multiple environmental sensing elements onto a single compact board. Its core gas detection utilizes solid polymer electrochemical sensors from EC Sense, which are designed to prevent electrolyte leakage and sensor poisoning, ensuring long-term measurement stability and a prolonged operational lifespan. The module provides digital outputs for all parameters via a simple UART command protocol.
This integrated design simplifies system architecture by providing a unified data stream for HCHO (formaldehyde), TVOC (total volatile organic compounds), CO (carbon monoxide), and a calculated IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) index, alongside direct temperature and relative humidity readings. Its wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +55°C and tolerance for low humidity (>15% RH) make it suitable for deployment in diverse and demanding indoor environments.
