The Waveshare 3-Channel Relay Expansion Board is engineered to extend the control capabilities of the NVIDIA Jetson Nano, enabling it to interface with and manage high-voltage electrical appliances. This robust expansion integrates seamlessly using the Jetson Nano’s standard 40-pin GPIO header, offering a direct plug-and-play solution without complex wiring setups.
Central to its design is the implementation of optocoupler isolation, a critical feature that electrically separates the low-voltage control circuitry of the Jetson Nano from the high-voltage relay circuits. This isolation effectively mitigates electrical noise and prevents potential damage from voltage spikes or ground loops, thereby ensuring stable and reliable operation of the Jetson Nano in demanding industrial or home automation environments. Each of the three onboard relays is rated for significant loads, capable of switching up to 5A at 250V AC or 30V DC, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Further enhancing its utility, the board includes LED indicators for each relay, providing immediate visual feedback on their operational status. Control pins are also configurable via onboard jumpers, offering flexibility for developers to adapt the board to specific project requirements or integrate it with various software frameworks. An included acrylic bottom panel adds an extra layer of insulation and protection between the expansion board and the Jetson Nano.
