The Opto Encoder Click board utilizes the Vishay TCUT1600X01, a tall dome dual-channel transmissive optical sensor with phototransistor outputs. It features an integrated infrared LED (950nm) and two phototransistors positioned behind slits to create two independent sensing channels (E1 and E2). This configuration generates quadrature output signals, enabling the host microcontroller to determine not only incremental position but also the precise direction of movement.
Designed for the mikroBUS standard, this sensor board simplifies the addition of high-resolution optical encoding to embedded projects. Its robust signal conditioning and simple GPIO interface make it suitable for applications requiring accurate detection of rotational angle, linear displacement, speed, and motion direction in industrial, automotive, and robotics environments.
