FirstRate FST400-1000 Magnetostrictive Displacement Sensor, 950-1000mm Range, 4-20mA Output, M18x1.5 Port, IP67
The FirstRate FST400-1000 is a pressure-resistant, outer-tube magnetostrictive displacement sensor delivering high-precision linear position feedback via a 4-20mA analog output. Designed for industrial control systems operating on 24VDC, it is ideal for monitoring hydraulic cylinder piston positions, fan pitch angles, and brake control mechanisms.
Features
- High-precision magnetostrictive sensing with ±0.1%FS or ±0.3%FS accuracy.
- Pressure-resistant outer tube construction with M18x1.5 threaded port and IP67 protection.
- Standard 4-20mA current loop output for robust, noise-immune signal transmission.
- Wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C for harsh environments.
- Non-contact measurement principle ensures long-term reliability with no mechanical wear.

The FST400-1000 operates on the magnetostrictive principle, where a current pulse sent down a waveguide interacts with a position magnet, generating a torsional strain wave. The time-of-flight of this wave is measured to determine the absolute position of the magnet with high repeatability. This non-contact method provides exceptional durability and eliminates wear-related drift.
Housed in a robust, oil-resistant outer tube, the sensor is engineered for direct integration into hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Its 4-20mA two-wire output is compatible with standard PLC analog input modules and industrial data acquisition systems, providing a linear representation of the 950-1000mm measurement range. The integrated LED indicator aids in quick operational diagnostics and fault finding.
