The BME688, based on the Bosch Sensortec chip, is a MEMS-based environmental sensor providing calibrated digital outputs for temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, and volatile organic compound (VOC) detection. Its integrated metal oxide (MOX) gas sensor features a programmable micro-hotplate heater, enabling controlled sensitivity tuning for detecting gases like ethanol, alcohols, and carbon monoxide.
Designed for robust environmental monitoring, the sensor offers high stability and precision across a wide operating range. The Adafruit breakout board includes level shifting and a 3.3V regulator, ensuring safe operation with both 3.3V and 5V microcontroller systems. Its compact form factor with standard 0.1″ pitch headers and Stemma QT connector facilitates rapid prototyping and solder-free connections in IoT, weather station, and indoor air quality applications.
