Description

The CLJ-A30M-10ANA operates on the electromagnetic induction principle. An internal oscillator generates a high-frequency field at the sensor’s face. When a conductive metal object enters this field, eddy currents are induced, causing a detectable change in the oscillator’s amplitude. This change is processed by the internal circuitry to switch the NPN output transistor.

Built for harsh industrial environments, the sensor’s housing provides mechanical durability. The NPN output is a common interface for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other industrial automation systems requiring a sinking input signal. Its solid-state construction ensures millions of reliable switching cycles with minimal maintenance.

Key Features

  • NPN Sinking Output: Provides a switched ground signal when a target is detected, ideal for connecting to PLC digital inputs.
  • Precise 10mm Sensing Range: Accurately detects ferrous and non-ferrous metals within the specified nominal distance.
  • Industrial-Grade M30 Housing: Features a standard M30 x 1.5 threaded metal body for robust and secure mounting in panels or machinery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between NPN and PNP output on this sensor?

The CLJ-A30M-10ANA has an NPN (sinking) output. This means the signal wire acts as a switched ground. When a metal target is detected, the output transistor turns on, connecting the signal line to 0V (GND). This is the standard for many PLCs in certain regions. A PNP (sourcing) output would switch the signal line to the positive supply voltage instead.

What metals can this inductive sensor detect?

This sensor detects conductive metals, including both ferrous (like steel and iron) and non-ferrous metals (like aluminum, brass, and copper). The exact sensing distance can vary slightly depending on the target metal's conductivity and permeability. Ferrous metals typically provide the longest detection range.

How do I wire this NPN inductive proximity sensor?

Connect the brown wire to your DC positive supply (10-30V), and the blue wire to the DC negative (0V/GND). The black wire is the NPN signal output. Connect the black wire to your PLC input or load. The load (e.g., PLC input) should then be connected back to the positive supply, completing the circuit when the sensor activates.

What is the typical operating life and switching speed?

As a solid-state device with no moving contacts, the sensor offers an exceptionally long operational life, typically rated for tens of millions of switching cycles. The switching frequency is typically up to 100 Hz, allowing for fast detection in high-speed counting or positioning applications on production lines.
