Generic Metal Detector Non-Contact Induction Sensor Module with Buzzer
This 5V DC LC oscillation-based metal detection module provides non-contact inductive sensing for proximity detection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals up to 1 cm. It features an onboard sensitivity potentiometer and buzzer alarm, making it compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontroller-based security or sorting systems.
Features
- LC Oscillation Detection: Utilizes an inductive coil to detect metal presence via changes in oscillation frequency.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: Onboard potentiometer allows precise calibration of the detection threshold.
- Integrated Audio Alert: Built-in buzzer provides immediate audible feedback upon metal detection.
- Compact PCB Design: Small 66mm x 60mm x 14mm module for easy integration into projects and enclosures.
- Simple 5V Interface: Operates on standard 5V DC, compatible with common development boards.

The module operates on the principle of LC oscillator disturbance. The onboard inductor and capacitor form a resonant tank circuit. When a metal object enters the electromagnetic field of the coil, it induces eddy currents, altering the circuit’s inductance and thus its resonant frequency. This shift is detected by the comparator circuitry, triggering the output signal and activating the buzzer.
Designed for basic proximity and security applications, the module requires manual sensitivity tuning via the potentiometer to account for different metal types and environmental conditions. The power terminals (V+ and V-) require soldering for connection, providing a simple digital or audible output for integration into automated systems, DIY metal detectors, or educational demonstrations of electromagnetic induction.
