Winsen MP-5-24V C3H8 LPG Gas Sensor Metal Cap
The Winsen MP-5 is a 24V DC-powered semiconductor LPG (C3H8) gas sensor with a metal cap encapsulation, designed for detecting flammable propane gas concentrations. It provides a variable conductivity output signal suitable for integration into simple alarm or monitoring circuits for industrial safety and HVAC applications.
Features
- Semiconductor sensor specifically targets LPG (C3H8) propane gas.
- Low power heater consumption (≤300mW) at 5V±0.1V.
- Metal cap encapsulation ensures durability and stable performance.
- Provides a variable conductivity output signal proportional to gas concentration.
- Compact form factor suitable for integration into gas alarms and detectors.

The Winsen MP-5 sensor utilizes a multilayer thick-film manufacturing process. A metal oxide semiconductor layer is deposited on a miniature Al2O3 ceramic substrate, with integrated heater and electrode structures. The sensor’s conductivity changes in the presence of the target LPG gas, with higher gas concentrations resulting in higher conductivity. This change can be measured with a simple external circuit to produce a corresponding analog output signal.
Designed for reliable operation, the sensor requires precise heater voltage control (5V±0.1V AC or DC) and operates within a controlled ambient environment (20°C±2°C, 65%±5% RH) for specified performance. Its metal cap construction provides mechanical protection and aids in maintaining a consistent sensing environment.
