The SGP40-D-R4 utilizes Sensirion’s advanced CMOSens® technology, integrating a metal-oxide (MOX) sensing element with a digital signal processor on a single chip. This design provides a robust, calibrated digital output representing a VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) index, enabling the detection of a wide range of indoor air contaminants without requiring specific gas calibration.
Operating from a 1.7V to 3.6V supply, the sensor is optimized for low-power battery-operated devices and portable electronics. Its compact DFN package and I2C communication protocol make it ideal for integration into smart home systems, HVAC controls, air purifiers, and IoT environmental monitoring nodes.
