The Waveshare 5G DONGLE Module is a dedicated carrier board that transforms standard M.2 Key B form-factor 5G and 4G LTE cellular modules into a functional USB dongle. It provides the necessary power regulation, antenna routing, and USB interface bridging, enabling developers and integrators to add high-speed mobile connectivity to x86/ARM-based systems. The board features four independent SMA connectors for primary, diversity, and GNSS antenna inputs, supporting carrier aggregation and improved signal reliability in 5G deployments.
Built with a sturdy ENIG-finished PCB, the module includes a custom aluminum heatsink assembly to manage thermal output from high-power 5G modems. It supports standard dial-up protocols (RNDIS, NDIS, PPP, MBIM) for seamless network integration on Windows, Linux, and Android hosts. The package is supplied with all necessary hardware, including IPEX adapter cables and a USB extension cable, for rapid prototyping and field deployment.
