Description
The Arducam 5MP OV5647 NoIR camera module is engineered for Raspberry Pi-based computer vision projects requiring reliable operation across day and night cycles. Its core component is the Omnivision OV5647 CMOS sensor, which provides a 5-megapixel resolution capable of capturing detailed still images and streaming Full HD 1080p video. The module distinguishes itself with a built-in, motorized infrared cut filter that mechanically engages or disengages based on ambient light conditions, enabling seamless transitions between standard color imaging and infrared-sensitive night vision without manual intervention.
Housed in a compact 36x36mm PCB, the module features a standard M12x0.5 threaded lens mount, pre-fitted with an LS-1820 lens offering a 56-degree field of view. This design allows for easy lens swapping or the use of CS-mount alternatives. Power and data communication are handled through a single 15-pin flat flex cable connecting directly to the Raspberry Pi’s Camera Serial Interface (CSI) port, ensuring a clean and straightforward integration. The 3.3V to 5V operating voltage range aligns with the Pi’s GPIO power rails, making it a plug-and-play solution for developers and makers building surveillance, monitoring, or robotic vision systems.
