Description
The Waveshare IMX708 Camera Module is a compact imaging solution built around the high-performance Sony IMX708 CMOS sensor. It outputs 12-megapixel stills and video with support for High Dynamic Range processing, which significantly improves image quality in scenes with high contrast. The module’s 120-degree wide-angle lens with a focal length of 2.75mm and an f/2.2 aperture is optimized for capturing broad fields of view, making it suitable for applications like surveillance, robotics, and environmental monitoring.
Designed for developer-friendly integration, the module connects via a standard 15-pin FFC cable to the MIPI CSI-2 port on Raspberry Pi boards, including the Pi 5 and Zero series with appropriate adapters. The I2C-controlled auto-focus mechanism provides flexibility for projects requiring dynamic focus adjustment. While it lacks an IR-cut filter for optimal daylight color reproduction, its imaging performance in normal lighting conditions is robust, supported by a 3.3V power supply and an operating temperature range suitable for both indoor and outdoor deployments.
