The GB40-T16 light curtain is designed for dual-voltage operation, accepting a DC power supply of either 12V or 24V. Ensure your power source is stable and within this range, and note the quiescent current draw is under 110mA for reliable performance in industrial control panels.

The sensor provides a solid-state PNP (sourcing) output signal capable of sinking up to 300mA. This output typically connects to the safety input of a machine's programmable logic controller (PLC) or safety relay. The signal goes low (OFF) when the beam is broken, triggering an immediate machine stop. Refer to the emitter and receiver unit wiring diagrams for correct connection of power, ground, and the output signal wire.

The IP64 rating indicates the enclosure is dust-tight (6) and protected against water splashes from any direction (4). This allows for installation in most industrial environments where dust is present and where equipment may be exposed to cleaning sprays or incidental splashes. It is not suitable for submersion or high-pressure water jets.

The system's resolution, or minimum detectable object diameter, is 52mm (Φ52mm) as per its specification. This means it can reliably detect intrusions by objects 52mm or larger when aligned perpendicular to the beam plane. The 40mm beam pitch ensures consistent detection coverage across the 600mm height.

The GB40-T16 is rated for operation in ambient temperatures from -10°C to +55°C (non-freezing conditions) and can be stored in temperatures from -30°C to +80°C. It features high immunity to ambient light up to 10,000 Lux. The robust housing is shock-resistant, tested to withstand 500 m/s² (50G) acceleration shocks.
