Description

The OV7670 CMOS Camera Module is a fundamental vision sensor for cost-sensitive embedded systems and IoT prototyping. Based on OmniVision’s OV7670 sensor with OmniPixel technology, it outputs raw Bayer data or processed YUV/RGB formats via a parallel data bus, while all operational parameters are managed through an SCCB interface, functionally identical to I2C. This integration simplifies adding live video or still image capture to robotics, security monitors, or object detection projects.

Its low operating voltage and power profile make it suitable for battery-powered portable devices. The module’s FR-4 PCB with gold plating minimizes light leakage, and the pre-mounted lens provides a 25-degree field of view. Developers can leverage the on-chip DSP for real-time image quality adjustments—including automatic exposure, white balance, and noise reduction—reducing the processing load on the host microcontroller.
