The PT76B30-L1 is a surface-mount ambient light sensor (ALS) that converts light intensity into a corresponding electrical signal. Its sensing principle is based on a photodiode with a built-in infrared cut filter, which ensures its spectral sensitivity closely matches the photopic response of the human eye. This design minimizes errors caused by infrared light sources, providing accurate illuminance readings for automatic display backlight adjustment.
Engineered for reliability in harsh environments, the sensor operates across an industrial temperature range. Its compact SMD footprint allows for direct integration onto main PCBs, eliminating the need for external mounting hardware. The device outputs an analog signal proportional to light intensity, which can be easily read by an ADC on microcontrollers such as ESP32, STM32, or industrial PLCs for implementing adaptive lighting algorithms.
