MQ-8 Hydrogen H2 Gas Sensor Alarm Detection Module
The MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor Module is a semiconductor-based sensor designed for detecting hydrogen (H2) gas concentrations. It provides both a digital TTL-level trigger output and an analog voltage output for concentration measurement, making it compatible with microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and industrial PLCs for safety monitoring applications.
Features
- Semiconductor-based MQ-8 sensor for hydrogen (H2) gas detection.
- Dual output: Digital TTL (DO) trigger and analog voltage (AO) for concentration.
- Operates on a standard 5V DC supply with low power consumption.
- High sensitivity to hydrogen with stable long-term performance.
- Compact PCB module with mounting holes for easy installation.

The MQ-8 sensor utilizes a tin oxide (SnO2) semiconductor sensing element. In clean air, its conductivity is low. When exposed to hydrogen gas, the conductivity increases proportionally with the gas concentration. An onboard conditioning circuit converts this change into a usable analog voltage signal and a digital trigger signal.
This module is designed for reliable hydrogen leakage detection in both residential and industrial safety systems. It offers a rapid response and recovery time, ensuring timely alerts. The sensor’s construction prioritizes stable operation and resistance to interference from common gases like ethanol, carbon monoxide, and soot.
