The MQ-137 ammonia gas sensor utilizes a tin dioxide (SnO₂) semiconductor sensing element. In clean air, the sensor’s conductivity is low. When exposed to ammonia gas, the conductivity increases proportionally to the gas concentration, allowing measurement via a simple voltage divider circuit. The integrated heater stabilizes the sensing surface for consistent performance.
Designed for durability and long-term operation, this sensor requires a preheating period before stable readings are achieved. It is suitable for integration into both portable detectors and fixed monitoring systems, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for ammonia detection in agricultural, industrial safety, and indoor air quality scenarios.
