The Mikroe Alcohol Click utilizes an MQ-3 gas sensor, which employs a tin dioxide (SnO2) semiconductor sensing layer. In clean air, the conductivity of this layer is low. When alcohol vapor is present, the conductivity increases proportionally to the gas concentration, generating a corresponding analog voltage signal on the AN pin.
Designed for 5V operation and compatible with the mikroBUS socket standard, this Click board simplifies integration into embedded systems for gas monitoring. The included potentiometer allows for precise adjustment of the sensor’s load resistance, enabling calibration for optimal sensitivity and stability in specific application environments.
