Generic GY-9255 MPU9255 Sensor Module (without Magnetometer) - 6-Axis IMU, I2C Interface
The GY-9255 module integrates an MPU-9250 6-axis IMU (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope) with an onboard 3.3V regulator and I2C logic level conversion, providing a plug-and-play motion sensing solution compatible with 3.3V/5V microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and STM32.
Features
- 6-Axis Motion Tracking: Combines a 3-axis accelerometer (±2g to ±16g) and a 3-axis gyroscope (±250 to ±2000°/s).
- Flexible Power Supply: Integrated LDO regulator allows operation from 3.3V to 5V DC sources.
- Simplified I2C Integration: Onboard pull-up resistors and logic level converter for direct connection to 5V or 3.3V I2C buses.
- Built-in Signal Conditioning: Features onboard low-pass filters to reduce noise from motors and high-current electronics.
- Compact & Ready-to-Use: Pre-soldered module with immersion gold PCB and unsoldered header pins for easy prototyping.

The GY-9255 is a compact sensor module centered on the TDK InvenSense MPU-9250 MEMS chip. While the module name references the MPU9255, the core component is the MPU-9250, which houses a 3-axis MEMS gyroscope and a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer on a single die, along with a Digital Motion Processor (DMP) for onboard sensor fusion and motion processing. The module provides a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), as it does not include the magnetometer functionality of the full 9-axis MPU-9250.
Engineered for robust performance in electrically noisy environments, the module includes built-in low-pass filters and an ultra-low-noise linear voltage regulator. The onboard circuitry features pull-up resistors on the I2C lines (SDA, SCL) and chip select (nCS), pull-down resistors on auxiliary pins (FSYNC, AD0), and a logic level converter, ensuring reliable communication with both 3.3V and 5V microcontroller systems such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and industrial PLCs.
