Description
The Arducam OV9281 is a specialized monochrome camera module built around the 1-megapixel OV9281 CMOS sensor featuring a global shutter. Unlike rolling shutter sensors, the global shutter captures the entire image simultaneously, eliminating motion blur and skew for applications involving rapid movement. The module ships with a default M12 mount lens, offering a focusing range from 30mm to infinity.
Designed explicitly for the Raspberry Pi ecosystem, it connects directly to the board’s CSI-2 camera interface via a 2-lane MIPI serial output, requiring no additional hardware. The sensor’s lack of an IR filter (NoIR) makes it sensitive to near-infrared light, enhancing performance in controlled lighting or machine vision setups using IR illumination. Its output supports RAW8/10 formats, providing flexibility for image processing algorithms.
