Description
The Arducam 5MP OV5647 Camera Module is a purpose-built imaging peripheral for the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. It leverages the Pi’s dedicated Camera Serial Interface (CSI), a high-bandwidth bus designed exclusively for carrying pixel data, ensuring efficient and rapid image transfer from the sensor to the BCM2835 processor. This direct connection via a ribbon cable eliminates bottlenecks associated with USB-based cameras, providing a stable and low-latency video feed.
At its core is the OmniVision OV5647 sensor, a 1/4-inch 5-megapixel CMOS imager capable of still capture and video at up to 30 frames per second. The module features an integral IR filter and a standard M12x0.5 threaded lens mount, offering flexibility for makers and integrators to swap lenses for different focal lengths and applications. Its compact form factor and 3.3V to 5V operating voltage range make it suitable for portable, battery-powered IoT devices and embedded vision systems.
