Seeed Studio Studio Grove Water Sensor v1.1 - Digital/Analog Conductivity Module
The Seeed Studio Studio Grove Water Sensor v1.1 is a conductivity-based liquid detection module compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other Grove ecosystem devices. It provides both digital and analog output signals to indicate moisture presence, from dry to fully immersed states, for simple water level and leakage monitoring.
Features
- Conductivity-based sensing via exposed PCB traces with 1 MΩ pull-up resistor.
- Dual-mode output: digital trigger for presence/absence and analog for level indication.
- Grove standardized 4-pin connector for plug-and-play compatibility with Seeed Studio Studio base shields.
- Low operating current (<20mA) and wide 4.75V to 5.25V DC supply range.
- Compact PCB footprint (40mm x 20mm) with 2mm mounting holes for secure installation.

The Grove Water Sensor operates on the principle of electrical conductivity between its interlaced ground and sensor signal traces. A weak 1 MΩ pull-up resistor holds the sensor trace high. When water bridges the gap between traces, conductivity increases, pulling the signal trace low. This change can be read as a digital signal for simple detection or as an analog voltage for proportional water level estimation.
Designed for seamless integration, the module features the Grove 4-pin interface, simplifying connections to microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi via corresponding base shields. Its operational envelope is suited for indoor or protected environments, with specified operating conditions of 10°C to 30°C and 10% to 90% relative humidity (non-condensing).
