This ENA36TL model provides up to 16-bit single-turn resolution, meaning it can uniquely identify 65,536 distinct positions within one full 360-degree revolution of the shaft. It does not track the total number of revolutions (multi-turn count). For applications requiring absolute position over multiple turns, a different encoder model with multi-turn capability would be necessary.

With an IP65 protection rating, the encoder is sealed against dust ingress and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for many industrial environments with dust, splashes, or light washdown procedures. However, it is not submersible or rated for high-pressure, high-temperature cleaning (IP69K).

The encoder requires a 18-30V DC power supply, typically provided through the standard 3-wire or 5-wire M12 connector used for IO-Link. The connection involves wiring the device to an IO-Link master module, which then communicates with the host controller (PLC or IPC). The master handles both power delivery and the digital IO-Link communication protocol.
