The HC-SR501 module integrates a pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensor, signal conditioning circuitry, and a Fresnel lens to detect changes in infrared radiation caused by moving human bodies. The onboard potentiometers allow for precise adjustment of the sensing range and the output signal hold time, providing customization for different application environments.
Designed for reliability across a wide temperature range from -20°C to +80°C, the module outputs a high-level 3.3V TTL signal upon detection, which can directly drive opto-isolators, transistors, or microcontroller GPIO pins. Its compact form factor and low power profile make it suitable for embedded security systems, lighting control, and energy management projects.
