Description

The PST CT20W is a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor module designed for smart home security applications. It employs an independent PIR sensor element paired with a multi-zone Fresnel lens to detect infrared radiation changes caused by moving bodies within its field of view. The module’s integrated WiFi radio (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) enables direct connection to home networks without a separate hub, facilitating seamless integration with the Tuya Smart ecosystem for automated routines and remote management.

Engineered for reliable performance in indoor environments, the sensor operates within a temperature range of -10°C to +50°C. Its compact ABS housing is designed for discrete placement, and the included mounting bracket allows for optimal positioning to cover entry points, hallways, or valuable assets. The dual power option ensures continuous operation, with battery backup providing functionality during power outages.

Key Features

  • Direct WiFi Connectivity: Integrated 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n radio for standalone operation with the Tuya Smart app.
  • Advanced PIR Sensing: Independent sensor with a 110° wide detection angle and a configurable range of 9 to 12 meters.
  • Intelligent Pet Filter: Fresnel lens technology and algorithm help ignore motion from pets under 25kg to reduce nuisance alarms.
  • Multi-Sensory Alarm Output: Combines a loud >80dB piezo siren, bright flashing LED indicators, and instant push notifications.
  • Programmable Scheduling: Allows for automated arming and disarming cycles based on time-of-day schedules via the mobile app.
  • Dual-Power Redundancy: Supports primary operation via plug-in DC power with backup from 2x AAA 1.5V batteries.
  • Durable ABS Construction: White ABS plastic housing provides a durable and aesthetically neutral finish for indoor use.
  • Easy Installation: Includes wall-mount bracket and screws for secure placement, or can be placed freely on a flat surface.

Applications

  • Smart Home Intrusion Detection: Monitor entryways, hallways, and rooms for unauthorized movement, triggering immediate local and remote alerts.
  • Automated Lighting & Appliance Control: Use as a trigger within the Tuya ecosystem to activate lights, cameras, or smart plugs upon motion detection.
  • Pet-Owner Home Security: Provide reliable perimeter monitoring in homes with small to medium-sized pets while minimizing false alarms.
  • Remote Property Monitoring: Deploy in vacation homes, garages, or offices to receive instant notifications of activity via smartphone.
  • Elderly Care & Safety Alerts: Place in frequently used areas to detect movement patterns and send alerts in case of unusual inactivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PST CT20W require a separate hub or gateway to work?

No, the PST CT20W has built-in WiFi (2.4GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) and connects directly to your home network. It communicates directly with the Tuya Smart app on your smartphone without requiring an additional hub or gateway.

What is the pet immunity feature and how does it work?

The pet immunity feature is designed to minimize false alarms caused by small pets. It uses a combination of a specialized Fresnel lens that segments the detection zone and internal signal processing algorithms to ignore motion from animals weighing under approximately 25kg (55 lbs).

What are the power options for this sensor and how long do batteries last?

The sensor offers dual power options. For primary operation, you can use the included plug-in DC power adapter. For backup or wireless placement, it accepts 2x AAA 1.5V batteries. Battery life varies based on usage and alarm triggers but typically lasts several months under normal conditions.

Can I schedule when the motion sensor is active?

Yes, you can fully automate the sensor's armed state using the Tuya Smart app. You can create schedules to automatically arm (activate) and disarm (deactivate) the sensor at specific times of the day or on certain days of the week, providing hands-free security management.

What happens when motion is detected?

Upon detecting motion within its configured range, the sensor triggers a multi-stage alarm: it activates a built-in >80dB audible siren, flashes its integrated LED lights, and sends an instant push notification to your smartphone via the Tuya Smart app. All these alerts occur simultaneously.
