The Aotoro ER-D20C4 photoelectric sensor operates on the diffuse reflective principle, where the built-in emitter and receiver are housed in the same unit. It projects an infrared or red LED light beam; detection occurs when the beam reflects off a target object back to the receiver. This design simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a separate reflector or receiver unit.

Engineered for industrial durability, the sensor features a robust circuit with integrated protection against short circuits, reverse polarity, and electrical surges. Its ABS plastic housing and IP64/IP67 sealing ensure reliable performance across a broad operating temperature range from -25°C to +60°C, making it suitable for challenging factory floor and automation environments.

What is the difference between Light ON and Dark ON operation mode?

Light ON (Normally Open) means the sensor's output switch closes (turns ON) when an object is detected within its beam. Dark ON (Normally Closed) means the output switch is normally closed and opens when an object is detected. The mode is selected by wiring the sensor's output wires according to the datasheet diagram for your required logic.

Can this sensor detect transparent materials like glass or clear plastic?

Yes, the ER-D20C4 can be configured for detecting transparent objects. Using the red LED version can improve detection of certain transparent materials. Optimal detection may require fine-tuning the sensor's alignment and sensitivity, as some highly transparent materials may reflect minimal light.

What is the wiring configuration for the 3-wire DC sensor?

The sensor typically has three wires: Brown (VDC+), Blue (VDC- / GND), and Black (Output). Connect Brown to your positive DC supply (10-30V), Blue to the negative/common ground.
