The MQ303B alcohol sensor utilizes a tin dioxide (SnO2) semiconductor sensing layer. In clean air, the sensor’s conductivity is low. When alcohol vapor is present, the gas molecules adsorb onto the sensor surface, increasing its conductivity proportionally to the gas concentration. This change is converted into a corresponding output signal via an external load resistor circuit.
The module features a robust metal encapsulation that protects the sensing element and ensures consistent performance. It operates with a simple drive circuit, requiring a heater voltage of ≤6V DC to maintain the optimal sensing temperature. The sensor exhibits a quick response and recovery time, making it suitable for real-time monitoring applications.
