Description
The Waveshare Dual Gigabit Ethernet Base Board transforms the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 into a powerful, network-centric edge computing platform. It is designed for system integrators and developers building industrial IoT gateways, network appliances, or multi-camera vision systems requiring reliable, high-throughput connectivity.
Its architecture centers on expanding the CM4’s native capabilities, adding a secondary Gigabit Ethernet port via a dedicated RTL8153 controller to enable network bonding, failover, or segregated LAN/WAN configurations. The board’s robust power design, accepting a wide 7-36V DC input, ensures compatibility with standard industrial power supplies and Power-over-Ethernet splitters, facilitating deployment in field installations.
Beyond networking, the board exposes the full suite of CM4 interfaces, including dual MIPI CSI-2 camera inputs for computer vision, a MIPI DSI display output, and multiple USB 3.2 ports via an integrated hub. System management features like a real-time clock (RTC) with interrupt modes, a programmable fan controller (EMC2301), and configuration jumpers for I/O voltage and wireless module control provide the granularity needed for optimized, production-ready deployments.
