Description
The Arducam 5MP OV5647 NoIR Camera Module is engineered for developers and makers requiring infrared-sensitive vision capabilities on the Raspberry Pi platform. Based on the OmniVision OV5647 sensor, it provides a maximum still resolution of 2592×1944 pixels and supports 1080p video streaming at 30 frames per second, with a fixed-focus lens offering a 54°×41° field of view.
Its key differentiator is the removal of the infrared (IR) cut filter, which makes the sensor sensitive to infrared light. This allows the module to function as an effective night vision camera when paired with external IR illuminators, opening use cases in security, wildlife monitoring, and low-light computer vision. The module connects directly to Raspberry Pi boards via a standard 15-pin MIPI CSI-2 connector and is fully compatible with the Raspberry Pi’s native camera software stack, including the `raspistill` and `raspivid` commands, as well as Python libraries like Picamera2.
