Description
The INA219 FeatherWing revolutionizes power monitoring by providing an elegant solution for measuring both high-side voltage and DC current draw with 1% precision via an I2C interface. Unlike traditional low-side current sensors that can introduce ground reference issues, this module’s INA219B chip excels at high-side sensing up to +26VDC, making it ideal for tracking battery life or solar panel output without complex circuitry.
Powered by a 3.3V supply, the FeatherWing’s integrated precision amplifier accurately measures voltage across its 0.1 Ohm, 1% sense resistor. This configuration allows for current measurements up to ±3.2 Amps, with a fine resolution of 0.8mA thanks to its internal 12-bit ADC. For applications requiring different current ranges, the sense resistor is replaceable, offering flexibility for advanced users to customize measurement capabilities, such as achieving up to 32 Amps with a 0.01 Ohm resistor.
Its plug-and-play design ensures seamless integration with any Adafruit Feather board, utilizing I2C for straightforward communication. The ability to modify the I2C address further enhances its utility, allowing up to four INA219 FeatherWings to operate concurrently on a single Feather platform for multi-point power monitoring.
