Description
The Waveshare Raspberry Pi Camera (I) Fisheye Lens Module integrates a 5-megapixel OV5647 CMOS sensor with a fixed-focus, wide-angle optical assembly. Its 1/4-inch CCD size and F2.0 aperture are optimized for low-light performance, while the 1.55mm focal length produces a 185-degree horizontal field of view, significantly wider than standard 72-degree lenses. This makes it suitable for applications requiring expansive scene capture without multiple cameras.
The module connects via a 15-pin FFC (flat flexible cable) to the Raspberry Pi’s Camera Serial Interface (CSI), supporting both the legacy Raspicam driver and the newer libcamera stack. It operates at 3.3V, drawing minimal current for power-efficient always-on vision systems. The fixed-focus design simplifies integration, requiring no calibration for applications like fisheye distortion-based depth sensing, panoramic imaging, or wide-area motion detection in smart security and industrial IoT setups.
