Description
The Waveshare PoE UPS Base Board significantly extends the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, transforming it into a versatile industrial or embedded solution. This base board offers a highly resilient power subsystem, supporting both Power over Ethernet (802.3af) and a wide 7-36V DC input, ensuring reliable operation in diverse environments. Its intelligent dynamic path management allows the system to be powered while simultaneously charging batteries, and seamlessly switches to battery power upon external supply loss without interruption.
Beyond robust power, the board enhances connectivity with a Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port, two HDMI 2.0 outputs for dual display setups at up to 4Kp60, and four USB 2.0 Type-A ports for peripherals. An M.2 M-KEY slot facilitates integration of NVMe SSDs for high-speed storage or PCIe-based communication modules. Additional features include MIPI DSI and CSI-2 interfaces, a 40-pin GPIO header, and an RTC with battery backup for accurate timekeeping, making it suitable for a wide array of advanced embedded applications.
The base board also provides practical features for developers, such as a microSD card socket for CM4 Lite variants, adjustable 5V/12V fan control, and status LEDs for M.2 and CM4 activity. Specific jumper caps and configuration options are available for enabling PoE, setting fan voltage, and configuring the CM4 boot mode, offering granular control over the system’s operation.
