Description

The Waveshare IMX219 Camera Module is a dedicated imaging peripheral engineered for the Raspberry Pi 5 platform. It leverages the proven Sony IMX219 8-megapixel CMOS sensor, connected via a native MIPI-CSI-2 interface to ensure minimal latency and maximum bandwidth for video streaming and still capture. The module is paired with a fixed-focus lens offering a 120° diagonal field of view, enabling the capture of wide scenes without the need for mechanical panning.

Designed for developer and integrator ease, the module connects directly to the Pi 5’s dedicated camera port with a flexible ribbon cable, requiring no additional drivers when used with standard Raspberry Pi OS distributions. Its compact, board-level construction makes it suitable for integration into drones, smart home security systems, machine vision rigs, and educational robotics projects where reliable, high-quality visual input is required.
