Description
Designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5, the Seeed Studio Studio Dual M.2 PCIe HAT unlocks the full potential of its PCIe interface by providing two M.2 M-Key expansion slots. At its core, this HAT integrates a PCIe Gen 2.0 switch chip (ASM1182E) which efficiently splits the single PCIe lane from the Raspberry Pi 5 (which is Gen 3.0 capable) into two independent M.2 interfaces. This architecture allows for versatile configurations, supporting either two high-speed NVMe SSDs for massive storage capacity or a combination of an NVMe SSD and an AI accelerator, such as the Hailo-8 or Hailo-8L NPU.
This expansion board is engineered for stable, high-performance operation, featuring additional pogo pins to ensure robust power delivery to connected M.2 devices. Its innovative back-mounted design preserves access to the Raspberry Pi 5’s crucial 40-pin GPIO header and ensures compatibility with official heatsinks and active coolers, maintaining optimal thermal management. Furthermore, the user-friendly S-shaped FPC cable design ensures the microSD card slot remains unobstructed, providing a practical and powerful solution for integrating fast storage and AI capabilities into edge computing, machine learning, and data-intensive projects.
