This sensor is designed for shielded (flush) mounting, meaning it can be installed flush into a metal panel without the sensing field being affected by the surrounding metal. An unshielded sensor requires a non-metallic clearance around it to function correctly. The shielded design provides more precise detection and is ideal for tight mechanical installations.

Connect the brown wire (+V) to your DC power supply positive (6-36V), the blue wire (0V) to the supply negative, and the black wire (signal output) to your PLC's digital input. The black wire will switch to 0V (sink current) when a target is detected, which is compatible with most PLC sinking input modules. Ensure your PLC common is connected to the positive supply.

This inductive sensor is primarily designed to detect ferrous metals such as steel and iron. The detection distance is specified for standard steel. Non-ferrous metals like aluminum or copper will have a significantly reduced sensing range, typically 30-50% of the rated 15mm distance, and may require testing for reliable operation.

The setting distance is the recommended operational range for reliable switching, typically 70% of the rated detection distance (15mm). It ensures a safety margin against supply voltage fluctuations, temperature changes, and target material variations. For consistent performance, the target should pass within this 0-10.5mm zone.
