Description

The CZJ-A12M-4ANB is a compact inductive proximity sensor operating on the electromagnetic induction principle. An internal oscillator generates a high-frequency field; when a conductive metal object enters this field, eddy currents are induced, causing a detectable change in the oscillator’s amplitude. This change is processed by the internal circuitry to switch the NPN open-collector output.

Constructed with a nickel-plated brass or stainless-steel sensing face and housing, the sensor is designed for durability in industrial environments. Its fast response time and high repeatability make it suitable for high-speed counting, position verification, and limit switching applications in automated machinery and production lines.

Key Features

  • Non-contact inductive detection for extended operational life and reduced mechanical wear.
  • High detection accuracy and repeatability for reliable automation control.
  • Robust M12 threaded metal housing provides secure mounting and environmental resistance.
  • Integrated protection circuits guard against wiring errors like reverse polarity and output short circuits.
  • Optimized performance-to-cost ratio for high-volume industrial integration.
  • Suitable for detecting a wide range of conductive metals including steel, aluminum, and copper.

Applications

  • Position sensing and end-of-travel limit switches in CNC machines and linear actuators.
  • Object detection and part presence verification on conveyor belts and assembly lines.
  • High-speed counting of metallic components in packaging and sorting machinery.
  • Rotary encoder synchronization and cam position detection in automated indexing systems.
  • Safety interlock and door position monitoring in industrial cabinets and machinery guards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating voltage range for this NPN inductive sensor?

The Pro-Range CZJ-A12M-4ANB typically operates on a DC supply voltage ranging from 6V to 36V. Always verify the specific wiring diagram, connecting the brown wire to positive voltage (+V), the blue wire to common ground (0V), and the black wire as the switched NPN output signal to your PLC or controller input.

Can this sensor detect non-metallic objects like plastic or wood?

No, this is an inductive proximity sensor, which operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It can only detect conductive metals, such as steel, aluminum, copper, and brass. Non-conductive materials like plastic, wood, glass, or ceramics will not be detected.

What is the difference between NPN and PNP output types, and how do I wire this NPN sensor?

NPN (sinking) and PNP (sourcing) describe the transistor switching type inside the sensor. This model has an NPN output, meaning the black signal wire acts as a switch to ground (0V). To interface it, connect the black wire to your PLC's digital input, which should have an internal pull-up resistor to the positive supply. The sensor sinks current to ground when activated, pulling the input low.

What is the recommended mounting procedure for the M12 threaded barrel?

For optimal performance, mount the sensor using a standard M12 locknut on a flat panel. Ensure the sensing face is flush and unobstructed. The sensing distance is rated for a standard target (a 1mm thick square of mild steel). For non-standard targets, the effective sensing distance may be reduced and should be tested empirically.
