Description

The Particle Photon 2 is a feature-rich IoT development board designed for rapid prototyping and scalable product development. It integrates dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 into a single, compact “Feather” form factor, powered by the Realtek RTL8721DM system-on-chip. This SoC combines an ARM Cortex-M33 processor running at 200 MHz with substantial memory resources—3MB of RAM and 2MB of Flash—enabling complex application logic and over-the-air firmware updates.

Engineered for reliability and security, the Photon 2 leverages ARM TrustZone technology and comes with pre-certified RF modules (FCC, IC, CE), significantly reducing regulatory hurdles. Its integrated RF switch allows the onboard PCB antenna and optional external U.FL antenna to be shared between Wi-Fi and BLE radios, optimizing performance and range. The board is fully supported by Particle’s Device OS and cloud platform, providing built-in tools for device management, secure messaging, and fleet deployment.
