The LTR-390UV module incorporates a monolithic CMOS sensor that simultaneously measures ultraviolet (UVA) and ambient visible light. It utilizes a photodiode array with optical filters to provide separate digital readings for UV index and illuminance (lux), enabling precise environmental light analysis. The sensor’s on-chip analog-to-digital converter and programmable gain settings allow for optimized performance across a wide dynamic range.
Communication is handled via a standard I2C bus, supporting both standard (100kHz) and fast (400kHz) modes. The module includes reverse polarity protection on its supply lines and operates from a single 3.3V to 5V DC supply, drawing minimal quiescent current. Its integrated interrupt engine can be configured to trigger on specific light threshold crossings, reducing microcontroller polling overhead for power-sensitive applications.
